Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration (DDR) programmes of ex-combatants is becoming a key issue in post-war reconstruction, when greater stability in the peace building process is sought. At present, and due to the many factors involved as well as the difficulty in implementing them effectively, the School for a Culture of Peace is carrying out a comparative analysis of DDR programmes around the world. The project has been commissioned by the Spanish International Co-operation Agency (AECI). This section includes explanatory briefings for countries with DDR programmes currently underway, so that an in-depth analysis can be made at the end of the year.
